2013 is 22-year-old Alex Libin's first pro season and he's focusing on ITU draft-legal racing. Alex decided to go pro for 2013 because he had a great year of racing and traveling with his friends and family in 2012, he qualified to turn pro, and he realized that 2013 would be his last year of U23 eligibility. We admire him for jumping in and are proud to sponsor him.
Check our blog after each of his events for his race reports and cheer him on!

Really big into hockey as a kid, Alex picked up all three disciplines of triathlon in high school: 4 years on the high school swim team, 2 years on the school cross country team, and time on a junior cycling team. His first triathlon was the Pigman Sprint in June 2007. Then he took a break to navigate college and all the fun that comes with that.
He jumped back in for the 2010 season and has been getting more serious about triathlon every year. In April of 2012, he took 9th Men’s Overall at Collegiate Nationals. In June he won 3rd place at the Dallas USAT EDR (Elite Development Race) Triathlon with a sprint finish, edging out the fourth place competitor by a single second and finishing just 4 seconds behind second place. He completed the year with 11th place in the Men's Elite division of the 5150 U.S. Championship Hy-Vee Triathlon in September. Overall, he placed 6th in the USAT 2012 Rankings for the men's 20-24 division.
Besides the exciting finish at Dallas, Alex has enjoyed traveling with friends, the support of his "awesome girlfriend," Kelli Putnam, participating in events in new locations, and seeing just how far he can push his body's limits. "Some of my favorite races haven't always been races I've performed well at. Xterra Nationals in 2007 at Lake Tahoe and the Pat Griskus Triathlon in Middleburry, Connecticut were two of the most beautiful locations I've ever raced at."
Looking forward to 2013, Alex wants to build his skills in draft-legal racing. "For now it's all about gaining experience and seeing how I compare to the competition. "
