Whether you are an online customer of Discount Tri Supply or a walk-in-off-the-streets-of-Ankeny Kyle's Bikes shopper, we'd like to introduce our staff to you. Their experience and expertise are an important part of who we are.
This time we'd like to introduce you to Bret.

What got you interested in cycling?
My dad would do group rides with his friends. When I was old enough he brought me along on one of them. I was hooked ever since.
What’s your favorite type of riding?
Singletrack and gravel roads
Do you race?
I have raced all disciplines of cycling, even sprint and Olympic triathlons, but my focus is on cyclocross and mountain biking. This year I'm racing for Sakari Race Team, a newer team in Des Moines.
Our main sponsor is Sakari Sushi on Ingersoll; the co-sponsor is Kyle's Bikes. The team has a diverse group of racers, Cat 1 to Cat 5 road, mountain bike, and 'cross. Kyle's Bikes has been a great sponsor for the team. The team received Jamis Icon Pro bikes to race on for the season and support for all the riders to help them keep riding.
What's some of your favorite gear?
My favorite gear is my S-works shoes. Without a doubt they make me faster, and they are the most comfortable shoes made.
If you could have any bike in the store, which one would it be?
Specialized Expert Carbon Stump Jumper 29
How long have you been working in the cycling/triathlon field?
What do you like best about working at Kyle's Bikes?
Kyle. He is a great guy to work for. The environment here is a lot of fun. All of us really enjoy what we do and it shows.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Helping Kyle grow the business into the largest bike shop in the state.
What are you passionate about?
I am a big advocate for mountain biking. I want to help more people get into the sport.
If you are in central Iowa, come talk to me with any questions about trails or gear. On Saturday mornings, the Kyle's Bikes shop ride meets at Sycamore Access at 8:00 for a ride. It's a great time to learn some skills off road.
