Do you consider yourself a triathlete, a cyclist, a runner, a swimmer…?
Mostly just a cyclist. I did swim in high school, and still swim every summer at the outdoor pool. I also run a couple of times a week, but I am really slow. I do like what a good workout you can get running in a short amount of time.
What got you interested in cycling?
My dad worked at a bike shop my entire life, even before he opened his own store (Kyle's Bikes), so I naturally was interested in bikes. Then I got my friends interested, so it was just a natural progression.
What’s your favorite type of riding?
I prefer to mountain bike. I love riding in Colorado. I try to make it out to Winter Park at least every other year. We usually spend a couple of days riding downhill and a day or two riding cross country. I also like riding my road bike on the paved trails. One last type of riding I like is night riding. The full moon rides on the High Trestle Trail are awesome!
Have you ever done a triathlon?
No, but I keep thinking one of these days I will try to do a sprint tri.
If you could have any bike in the store, which one would it be? I would love to have the new S-Works Enduro or the new Specialized Turbo e-bike. I already have a Jamis Xenith Team which is one of my other dream bikes.
What bike accessory couldn’t you live without?
Clipless pedals, and I am really liking the Topeak PanoBike Speed & Cadence Sensor that syncs with my iPhone using Bluetooth. I really like to try out any new gear.
What's some of your other favorite gear?
Garmin 610, 2XU Compression Calf Guards, The Stick, TP Foam Roller, SRAM Red, and my Kyle's Bikes jersey.
What do you like best about working at Discount Tri Supply?
I like solving problems and figuring out better ways of doing things. I enjoy working to make the company as strong as possible. I also really like all of the people we work with.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Living in Ankeny and continuing to build Kyle's Bikes online presence: DiscountTriSupply.com. I hope to be in a bigger warehouse and expand our online offerings.
