Kyle's Bikes Winter Bike Maintenance Specials

Kyle's Bikes Winter Bike Maintenance SpecialsThat chill in the air means you won't be riding as much and our mechanics won't be as busy. That means it is time for you to take advantage of our winter bike maintenance specials. Drop your bike (or bikes!) off at our store in Ankeny, Iowa, and our mechanics will thoroughly clean, lube, and adjust your bike to have you ready for next season.

We have two packages on sale this year. Stop in between now and Monday, February 7th to take advantage of them.

The first is our New Bike Feel Package. This is the one where we completely disassemble your bike (after recording your fit measurements). As we build it back up, we clean, examine, lube, and tune every part of it, including truing your wheels. All labor and the basic parts are included in the price.

The second is our Annual Service and Cleaning Package. The only disassembly here is the drivetrain, so it can get a bath in our solvent tank. We still give your bike a complete lube—chain, cables, pivots, and pulleys—adjust both the shifting and the brakes, and true the wheels. The price includes all the labor, but all parts are an additional cost.

What Parts Might Need Replacing?

Replacing your brake pads every year is a good idea. They get worn down over time and are so critical for your safety. (Brake pads are included in the New Bike Feel Package.)

Cables and housings get worn down by dirt and moisture. If they go too long without being replaced, it can be impossible to get shifting or braking performing smoothly. (Cables and housing are included in the New Bike Feel Package.)

Tires and tubes take a lot of wear and sometimes abuse from the road or trail. A fresh set for the new year is never a bad idea. (Tires and tubes are included in the New Bike Feel Package.)

New bar tape or new grips don't just make your bike look better, they can make your hands and wrists feel better. Old, worn-down tape or grips aren't doing you any favors. (Bar tape or grips are included in the New Bike Feel Package.)

The drivetrain is a common area where we find parts that need to be replaced. They don't necessarily need to be replaced every year, but they do need to be checked for wear. If your chain gets too worn, it can cause the gears to wear out faster. We will check your chain, chain rings, cassette, and jockey pulleys, and let you know how much life is left in them.

Because both these packages cover all the labor, now is a good time to consider component upgrades.
